2. Find Your Recipient’s Interest in Your Topic

1. Think of an upcoming meeting where you are to present an update on a project or a task.

2. Create a list of questions your recipients would like to have answered.

Example:

  • How did the affiliates (or stakeholders) respond to X?

  • What feedback did we get from X?

  • Are we still on time? If not, what should we do to meet the deadline?

  • What’s the new cost?

  • What did x say about our suggestion?

3. Group your questions into three main questions your recipients would love to have answered.

4. Formulate the questions in an interesting way. Be inspired by the list above.

3. Structure Your Answers with Numbers - like a List.

“There are two reasons for that…The first… and the second”. This is how you should use numbers and list to structure your answers. Use the numbers one, two or three. Four is too many:)

4. Come up with an Attention-Grabbing Hook

“But before I start, let me ask you something: How many of you have tried to… (Now tell a stoy about the problem you are talking about)..

or

“But before I tell you how many X we have spent the last (month or year) - what do you think it is?…(Make them guess a number).

or

“But before I start, what would you rather: Scenario A, where we continue our practise and keep doing ….. .or Scenario B, where we stop doing… and start doing…?

or

“But before I start, let me illustrate something… (now draw the problem)”.

5. Give Your Presentation a Title

Give your topic a brief title.

For example:

“Standardising all documentation” - that’s the topic of today.

“Boosting our Collaboration across working groups” - that’s the topic of today.

5. Create Your Supporting Slide Deck

Create an overview slide that you repeat in your slide deck to guide your listener continuously about where we are in the temple. Use circles:
