Team Elevator Pitch

PREPARE A SHORT INTRODUCTION OF YOUR TEAM

Know your six elements - to mix and match.

As team, develop together the six elements: Who, Why, How, Example, Metaphor, Tagline. Each element must be a brief sentence, 3-10 words.

Here is a recipe for a “Team Elevator Pitch” with six elements. Formulate the six elements. Think of them as LEGO bricks, and be ready to choose a few and mix and match.

THE RECIPE

  1. WHO: Team Title and a Bragging Number. Bragging numbers can include: end users you serve, years in business, number of people you lead, number of tasks per year, and percentage of successful deliveries. Choose a number that would impress your recipient.

  2. WHY: Formulate a short sentence describing the team’s winning aspiration, meaning the difference you are striving to create
Example: We simplify to become competitive.

  3. HOW: Formulate a short sentence describing your most important ability/competency in your quest to realise your WHY.
Example: We do that by… removing unnesseary steps from all processes.

  4. WHAT: Give a concrete example of a result you’ve just achieved on behalf of a prominent client (name-dropping welcomed). Focus on the result you have created.
Example: We recently counselled [Client] who faced a challenge with A, which resulted in B.

  5. ILLUSTRATION OR METAPHOR: Draw an illustration on a piece of paper (or show a drawing) that explains how your team approaches things. For example: Draw how you bridge the gaps or how you make a shortcut…. OR: Present your way of thinking with a metahor: Example: We think of our role as the client’s GPS, suggesting the fastest route to a return on their investment.

  6. TAGLINE: Your team unique value statement – it should say something about your way of working or thinking.
    Example:

Be Bold and Stay Calm - is what we believe in. Or: “If there’s a simpler way - we’ll let you know”.
